My Favourite Books

Books have helped me immensely with my personal and professional growth. Here are some of my favourites. I hope you find them helpful too.

Ask and It Is Given taught me……

How important it is to define what we want, ask for it and then behave as if we already possess what we desire. It really emphasized the idea that like attracts like. Therefore if we want high vibe things (a great relationship, money, success), then we have to focus on and get on the same vibration (love, happiness, abundance) of those things in order to be able to attract them.

Think & Grow Rich taught me……

The immense power of my mind and strategies on how to use that power to get the things that I want and become the person I desire to be. Some of the strategies include; autosuggestion, imagination, persistence, decisiveness and learning to have faith in myself and the process of transmutation.

Psycho-Cybernetics taught me……

The importance of cultivating and nurturing a positive self-image in order to feel happy and achieve success. Maltz suggests that we act how we perceive ourselves to be. Eg. If we think we’re lazy, we’ll act lazy. Therefore, it’s important to affirm positive beliefs about ourselves and reframe negative ones to ensure we live a happier, more successful life.

Mindset taught me……

The difference between a growth and fixed mindset and why believing in a growth mindset can truly enhance the quality of your life. Dweck evaluates the nature vs. nurture argument and lets us in on what we can do to change our beliefs so that we can fulfill our highest potential.

Chasing Excellence taught me……

There was so much goodness in this book and I really enjoyed reading about the perseverance of renowned athlete Katrin Davidsdottir. However, my biggest takeaway from this book was to never appraise yourself on your results, but rather appraise yourself on your efforts. If you try your best and you don’t win, you’re still a winner for all of the efforts you made and how much you accomplished along the way.

Becoming the One taught me……

That there is a multi-millionaire out there that I resonate with very deeply. It was as if “I” wrote this book. TI saw so many similarities in our thinking. However, I think my biggest takeaway from this book was that we are in control of every thought, every emotion and every action we have in our lives. And although we can’t control every circumstance, we can control our response to it. It is up to us to create the life we desire.

The 5 Second Rule taught me……

To seize the day or rather take action when presented with a thought. “I should go work out”…….5.4.3.2.1……I go work out. “I gotta call my brother to start planning mom’s retirement party”……5.4.3.2.1…….I call my brother. This book is all about taking action. Doing rather than just thinking.
